Acuña: Major Operation by Mexican Navy

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

Over a hundred elements of marine Navy of Mexico and Mexican Army secured drugs, weapons, vehicles and suspects, during raids that took place in different parts of the city during Tuesday morning.

Federal sources confirmed that since the early hours of Tuesday, the Marines arrived in Ciudad Acuña aboard armored vehicles and artillery units, proceeding to besiege residences and properties in the process of detaining criminal suspects.
The Marines were supported by helicopter gunships that were kept carrying out reconnaissance flights, as scores of elements raided  properties, and  “safe houses” used by drug traffickers.

Although the details and results of the operation have not been made public, information leaked that an indeterminate amount of drugs, weapons, grenades, cartridges, vehicles of recent model and suspects were seized.

The previous week, in Piedras Negras elite troops managed to confiscate 7 tons of marijuana, as well as grenades, weapons and vehicles.

Piedras Negras is the base operation for the Marina of Mexico (navy) as it continues air and ground operations in the municipalities of Acuña, Jimenez and Piedras Negras in search of members of organized crime.

There have been rumors from Acuña since the weekend.  One rumor was that two Zetas leaders had been captured one in Acuña and one in Monterrey as he flew in from Cancun.  The Zeta captured at the airport was supposedly Alfredo Andrade [in photo above left].  Andrade’s second in command was said to have been captured in Tuesday’s operation in Acuña.

I have received several communications over the past few days from enough people that gives me a sense that the rumors probably have some truth in them.  Today when Vanguardia reported about the Marina and Army operation on Tuesday that gave further support to the reports from people on the ground in Acuña.

If the reports are factual and Andrade was captured he will be extradited to the United States where he has been a fugitive since federal indictment in 2003 named him and 30 co-defendants wanted for drug trafficking and money laundering.

The drug operation, detailed in the indictment, shipped drugs out of  the Mexican city of Ciudad Acuña, across the Rio Grande/Bravo from Del Rio Texas, from Del Rio drugs were shipped to San Antonio, Austin and Waco Texas.

30 of the 31 named in the indictment have been arrested; the lone suspect on the lam is Andrade.

Some are reporting  the second person arrested is Roberto Andrade.

  1. Is this the way the wind is blowing?Isn't this one of the first big operations? This would seem as though they are targeting the Z,and as Chivis says"the lambist was a main man"There are always speculations on what crew the government would rather play footsy with.El Lazca come back all is forgiven,,,not.

Nothing wrong with drugs, humans have taken them for millennium and continue to take them, you of all people know this as a doctor. The problem occurs when governments arbitrarily make them illegal which in turn forces them underground and hard to get, thus creating criminality.Billions are made from inherently more dangerous drugs, and we all know many of the top social strata are involved in directorial seats on boards and such.Wasn't Marijuana demonized by Randolph Hearst,Andrew Mellon,Du Pont family, because they feared the cheapness of hemp as opposed to paper pulp?Just things to consider in the argument that's all.

    1. 11:23am. As I have mentioned before: yes I am a dr. For 30 yrs. I have chosen to help innocent children. Kids addicted to much worse drugs than pot. Most go from pain pills to heroin or Addrell to meth. Major problems; as I also mentioned, as a child of the 70's,while living in my home country,Sicily, I smoked alot of legal pot. My point has always been, if it's illegal, don't risk going to jail. Personally, I wish pot was legal in every state. Living in Texas, who wants to bet that Texas will be the last to legalize it? All of my adult kids agree. Peace, Texas Grandma.

    2. Actually a bill to decriminalize under one ounce of pot to a class c misdemeanor (fine only) made it favorably out of committee here in Texas. There is hope.

  6. Looks like Nieto is keeping his word and going after the Zetas first. Which in my opinion is a great strategy. not that I favor any cartel but that's a good starting point. I'm pretty sure the CDS won't mind giving him a hand with that..

  8. Great work Chivs-BB and to the other media sources. As the PRI censorship continues, it is nice to know there are free lance journalist working hard to get us the news on the ongoing narco wars. The Z's are taking some serious blows to their operations in their border Coahuila plazas. This weakening of their control of Coahuila could open the door for CDS-Talibanes to fill the vacuum created by the federal forces; in fact, with the appearance of mantas in N. Laredo this week announcing the creation of self-defense groups, could be sign that more operations are to come that will target the Z's. The noose is tightening around the Z-40, 42. They're getting ready to throw the book at their brother in Austin, they're getting hit hard in Coahuila, and their top lieutenant was captured. Could the capture of Z-40 or 42 be next? I can imagine the midget just foaming at the mouth liking the hits the Zetas are taking right now.

  10. 12:06PM we all feel lost trying to report facts in the new policy of narco news. Personally I am faced with going with Rumor if it seems there is a good possibility of truth but without official confirmation. I apologize, but I want readers to be aware of what is being said.

I have not heard it was Roberto, but it would be a natural assumption. What is perplexing is how they make these captures as though it is a great thing, yet most citizens could give information on where they live, safe houses etc. They have families and social interactions, for example Roberto has a wife and 5 kids, the older kids attend a private school in Acuna, everyone know what school that is, what church they attend etc. So these captures are unimpressive to me.

Free Acuna the new anon group is taking credit because they posted the photo of a very young person named Andrade on their list of Acuna Naros, which consisted of a halcones list. They used Facebook.

    Brilliant

Check out HB184. Except for the rank Baptist, most Texans I know have a libertarian streak. Nearly every person I know, votes republican and is for decriminalizing marijuana.

    1. He was one of the raza, he wasn't a z but had to work with them, if not the would have given him "piso". Wasn't one of those drug dealers looking to kill anyone, just moved the work that needed to be moved There are some other little ass 20 year olds with fucking ak47s in their hand and want to called señores. Killing people is easy moving work and making it in the business is what is hard. Lost lost of money that Alfredo kicked up for his safety that in the end for what. From previous experience he hated the zetas sai that these fools are bad for business, turns out that he was right, they were bad for the country. But everything would get better I everyone could work not just the Sinaloa and associates. Chapo doesn't mess with the civilians, is what the people say, and maybe they are right but chapo can do what ever the fuck he wants with the army as his personal bodyguards. He don't need to fuck with anyone because the government don't fuck with him.
Alfredo you will be missed amigo, you helped a lot of people get on their feet, and made lots of officials lots of fucking money on the government side.
Be on the look out for rats like Marcos Carrillo and his friends, Gustavo Hernandez, memo, y Los calderia
