"Mundo Narco" Blog Administrator Killed/UPDATE

Note: Like anything we report, this news has not been offically confirmed and is presented only for information purposes.

Blog Del Narco is reporting that the administrator of the Mexican narco blog "Mundo Narco" was killed by sicarios at his home. The victim was identified as Luis Gustavo Hernandez Bocanegra, 27 years of age, originally from Culiacan, Sinaloa. According to reports heavily armed men arrived at the home of the victim and shot him in front of his family. The gunmen managed to flee undetected.
According to witnesses, several men knocked at the home of the victim, who opened the door and told his family to leave to another room. The wife of the victim then heard numerous gunshots.

The victim sustained numerous gunshots in the face. Authorities found spent casings at the home from a .40 and 9mm firearms. The family of Luis Gustavo said that he had received threats for providing information on his blog, Mundo Narco. This supposedly occurred on August 28, 2012.
The last entry on the blog was on August 27, 2012 where he reported on several narco banners that were put up by the Sinaloa Cartel and were directed at El Mencho of the CJNG.

Update:
It appears that the story of Mundo Narco might be a hoax. The incident did occur, but there is no evidence that it was the administrator of Mundo Narco. There was a lapse time in an absence of reporting from Mundo Narco that corresponded with the news, and that added a degree in the potential of the validity, but at this point,  it looks like Mundo Narco is posting again.
Also there is no evidence that it was reported in BDN but in the clone which may not be associated with BDN. I posted this information for its value at the period it was found and I attached a disclaimer as the news was shady and not confirmed, but our readers needed to know it was there. The mystery may be partially resolved, but with news coming out of Mexico being so shady, one just never knows..

  2. God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.. R.. I.. P..

Theres is a thing callex IP address they an track that down and see were that IP address is located... Even if u were to put a fake IP they can break the code and find out the real address....

Cartels waste millions on antennas for there own radios frequency so that just shows they have a cyber geek that can do anything ....

  6. maybe he was killed for making false claims about the narco communication that the site said it got an email from reliable sinaloa cartel sources, so who knows he was probably lying

  15. Could it have been sinaloa or jalisco that ordered the hit for providing wrong information? Culiacan sinaloa he knew who was threatening him but since he lived in culiacan assumed nothing would happen in a stronghold of a cartel I wonder? Or perhaps a rival who knows? Threats to reporters have to be taking very seriously in mexico at least they didnt hurt the family so it makes you wonder if it were z they'd wipe out the whole family so who ever made threats is number one suspect.

  18. So they killed the Mundo Narco administrator: ¿what have they changed? Their battle is not with the young man they killed.

'What bastards' they are those WORTHLESS LOW LIFE CREEPS! The good news is that SOON enough they'll be taken off the streets by gun shots from enemies or they'll land in prison. Unfortunately that won't bring back our young innocent Mundo Narco administrator. This is a sad day.

There seemed to be more posts on BDN , and there were some things Mundo Narco had that BDN would not post. It seemed like both blogs ignored some events either out of fear or other reasons.

  25. Mundonarco is a clone of Blog del narco, it came out when Blog del Narco went down for a while, that abscence cause the birth of a few sites that copied Blog del Narco's template, you can read "Blog del Narco" in MundoNarco's site, so maybe the site just went down. Another creepy story happened when "htttp://todosobrenarcotraficoenmexico.blogspot.com" that site was fearless, it featured the hottest info, the videos, the photos, then it went idle and Blog del Narco filled that void.

  30. I read this early this morning before any comments were made. I just told a guy on Facebook a couple of months ago that has been posting on there and MySpace for several years now that he should watch himself talking about others business. But you know Internet tough guys talk back since they think they know everything. Freedom of speech...that doesn't save your ass when you piss off the wrong people. I've been wondering why there haven't been any updates on Mundo and know I know why. Cartels have people from all walks of life on their payrolls. The guy CDG had build their communications network was a highly skilled electrical engineer from San Antonio. Cartels monitor these sites just like all the initials do...they openly stated several months ago(DEA FBI CIA CBP) that they were adding these sites to their watch list. It's interesting to watch the war unfold thru articles online but when cartels warn all media to stop reporting drug war events they mean business. The reason they don't want it in the news is that eventually it brings more government resistance, local state and federal law enforcement. In my opinion there shouldn't be any news when zzz are exterminated completely. They are bad for Mexico. But who doesn't know that.

  41. * regarding 1:27 PM Sept. 10

= "I'm alive, the new event was 'put' out by those who want me dead."

Secondly, today, I was reading news articles on that Mundo Narco page (BEFORE new posts started coming out today) & the complaints from bloggers were to the administrator who had not been putting out New Reading Material. What catches my attention is WHY had he not been posting anything? If 'somebody' fabricated a story about him having been shot dead ¿WHY was he absent during this time frame during the circulation of a rumor about his death?

It makes me think of a few things:
    - bloggers often complain about the administrator not putting out new material fast enough and the administrator may have FINALLY HAD ENOUGH OF THAT LACK OF APPRECIATION TOWARD HIM after ALL THE WORK HE HAD BEEN DOING So, a bit of revenge maybe? "I'll take everything away from the complaining bloggers and SEE how they like that!
    - The administrator wanted more traffic, more popularity and so he somehow got a rumor circulating about him having been shot dead (and WHO SHOT JR?!--do you folks remember that soap opera series starring Larry Hagman?). So, a Publicity Stunt.
    - He wanted to take a break from posting news stories at Mundo Narco and so he took his break, got a rumor going, HAD A FANTASTIC LAUGH, PARTIED LIKE MAD WITH HIS NEW BLOND GIRLFRIEND etc etc. ha ha ha.

    * Larry Hagman was the guy who played the astronaut in the series I Dream of Jeannie. He later starred in Who Shot Jr? From Wikipedia:

Who shot J. R.? is an advertising catchphrase that American network CBS created in 1980 to promote the television series Dallas.[1] It referred to the mystery surrounding the season ending murder attempt in the March 21, 1980 "A House Divided" episode that was not resolved until the November 21, 1980 "Who Done It?" episode.

  43. @September 10, 2012 8:46 AM:

Tracing an IP adress will not go back directly to you with your name and address. It MAY (but not always)give your general location but nothing specific beyond that. Also, you could have a dynamic IP address which changes daily making extremely difficult to even trace that. Some sites, like Youtube, use multiple IP address and a clumsy hacker might confuse one of those IP address with your own.

I remember when the blogger "rascatripas" got killed and people were saying he got hacked. I highly doubt that. Most likely somebody paid money to a ISP or they used social engineering techniques, doxxing or something similar.

  56. Regarding the post about proxies, when I used to investigate cross boarder scams, the ones out of Canada since 99% of them come from that country, the scammers liked registering their sites with domainsbyproxy (dot)com. That sight even made it difficult for police to find out who owned a sight, they made them fill out a form and even charged a fee.

You don't need to trace or hack anything to find out who owns a site since it's already public info if you do a whois search.
