Car Bomb Wounds 5 in Northeastern Mexico

EFE
Five people suffered varying degrees of injuries when a car bomb exploded outside a police station in Ciudad Victoria, capital of the violence-wracked northeastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

A source with that state’s Attorney General’s Office, who spoke on condition on anonymity, said the parked vehicle exploded shortly after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at a spot some 30 meters (100 feet) from the station.

No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which also damaged two nearby patrol cars.

“We have information that five people were injured in the attack, but we don’t know if they were police or pedestrians,” the source said.

Federal forces were deployed to the police station after the explosion and they cordoned off the crowded area.

Last year, car bombs were detonated in Tamaulipas outside the state Public Safety complex in Ciudad Victoria, offices of media giant Televisa and a municipal transit office.

The border state of Tamaulipas has been the scene since late 2009 of a war for control of territory and smuggling routes between the the Gulf cartel and former allies Los Zetas, a conflict that has left hundreds dead.

Founded by deserters from the Mexican army special forces, the Zetas began their criminal career as the armed wing of the Gulf drug cartel before going into business for themselves.

The final split between the Gulf cartel and the Zetas took place a year ago, when the enforcers declared war on their former bosses.

  1. Why are these Cartels still being called "Crimen Organizado". This is clearly a Terrorist act...Colombia has no problem calling there headache (FARC) exactly what they are. TERRORISTS! Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon need to start looking for another Julian Leyzaola or Carlos Bibiano Villa Castillo. The cartels are INTIMIDATING and TAUNTING local police forces. The Ejercito needs help from "outside" forces because these Municipales and Federales are getting Bullied on a daily basis...

Hope the "drones" can pick up the location of the COBARDES responsible for this sh!t. Just look for the Scary B!tches that have to travel in convoys to do their dirt...The days of the "hidden" and "respectful" narco has been tarnished by these animals. They have lost all SHAME (VERGUENZA) and have turned into complete BARBARIANS...

  2. Colombian guerillas and paramilitaries have vastly different goals from that of cartels which exist to make as much money as possible.
