Nayarit Shootings leave 7 dead

Acaponeta, Nayarit - 12/1/10 Gunfire between two rival criminal groups has left seven sicarios dead and four bystanders were wounded in the crossfire.

The first incident occurred on federal highway 15, near the town of El Resbalón. It was here that two presumed sicarios lost their lives when they where sprayed with several rounds from an AK-47.

Several vehicles that belonged to the dead men and the rival sicarios were found abandoned at the scene

Three passengers were struck by stray bullets when their Victoria line bus was caught in the crossfire. All were reported to be in stable condition by the medical staff at the Acaponeta hospital.

Second Shooting

An hour later in the community of San Diego El Naranjo, investigators were alerted to the presence of five bodies in a red truck parked on the side of the road. Three men had died of gunshot wounds, while two others were found beheaded. Investigators say the decapitated men were previously murdered before this second gunfight occurred. They also believe the two shootings are related.

A number of sicarios were kidnapped during this second gun battle. The exact number is unknown, but it is believed to be a decent number of them that were captured by a rival group, who caught the men by surprise as they were on their way to make a drug sale in another part of Acaponeta.

Another bystander was also injured by a stray bullet. He was able to receive medical treatment quickly and his condition was not listed as critical at the time of this article.

At the scene, investigators found 35 packets of retail quantities of cocaine and crystal meth along with two Ak-47's, items which were dropped by a few lucky sicarios that escaped at the time of the attack.

  1. is Nayarit territory of the Federation? What 2 groups would be fighting here? Beltran Leyva vs Federation, or La Familia vs Zetas vs Gulf?

  2. Could be every one... but looks like Sinaloa's thumbprint... lots of bullets, no clues, no survivors. doesn't sound right about "retail quantities of cocaine and crystal meth along with two Ak-47's, items which were dropped by a few lucky sicarios that escaped at the time of the attack" though, I'd take my gun with me, no matter how fast I needed to run...

  4. @7:57 am

Nayarit used to be the Beltran Leyva's turf, before the war with Sinaloa broke out. A few other articles mentioned that the Z was active in the area.

The person who ran the plaze recently was a guy named José Luis Estrada Martínez, "El Pepino" who was killed back on April 8th of this year

But I'm not sure who is running the show right now in Nayarit.
