The Drug War in Pictures pt 3

Santiago Tetepex, Oaxaca – A father and son are killed as they sit in their truck. Leonardo Luengas Garcia, age 52, and his son Ruben Luengas Diaz, age 26, returned from a shopping trip when they were intercepted by an armed convoy that opened fire on their vehicle. Investigators recovered over 40 spent AK-47 and AR-15 shell casings. Those close to the family of the two slain men say neither one of them was known to have any connection with the local criminal element and were shocked by the assassination. Police also say they have no motives or suspect. It could have been a case of mistaken identity.

Teotitlan de Flores, Oaxaca – The bullet riddled body of Telecom administrator Justino Ediberto Quiroz is found dumped in a field after he had been abducted. Police have no suspects or motives at this time.

Ciudad Juarez - The police sergeant for the Municipal Secretary of Public Security was assassinated last night. The killers followed the sergeant after he had gotten of his shift at the Babicora precinct around 10:30 p.m. They used a second vehicle to cut him off and after the sicarios forced him out of the car at gunpoint, they made him kneel in front of his car on both knees before executing him. Again, no suspects, no motives.

Lazaro Cárdenas
, Michoacan - This is one of two men found dead last night in the port area of Lazaro Cardenas. The message reads: This happened to me for charging street taxes in the name of La Familia. Atte: FM

Not far from the first murder, another body is discovered. In the message, the sicarios threaten that they will continue to commit more murders: “This will happen to anyone for being fingers. There are 7 left. Atte: FM.” The number 7 was written in blood. The words dedo (finger) and soplon or soplona (whistle) are slang that refers to criminal informants.

The murders happened in a domicile on the corner of Acapulco and Profiro Diaz in colonia Melchor Ocampo, near the southern edge of the city. Seven men armed with automatic weapons entered the home and shot five people, killing a sixth person in front of the house. Initial reports indicated four victims, but that number rose to six after two survivors died en route to the hospital.

Rito Grado Villa and his son were found dead late last night after gunmen pulled up to their home which was located in colonia Tierra Nueva 2, and fired over sixty AK-47 rounds, killing both men. 4. To be fair to the police...they may not be trained in first aid, moving the victims may do more harm then good without medical supervision. Keep in mind all the women survived, only one casualty, and that was the guy who was allegedly running the brothel. Not trying to take away from the severity of the situation, but I am willing to give the officers the benefit of the doubt on this one. They imply that the ambulance is already on its way.
